What is PMF (probability mass function)?
Probability mass function (also called PMF): A function that gives the probability that a discrete random variable equals each specific value. Its values are never negative and add up to 1 over all possible values. It is the discrete counterpart of a density curve.
Probability mass function: an example
For a fair die, the function gives 1/6 for each of 1 to 6, and these six values sum to 1.
