What is PDF (probability density function)?
Probability density function (also called PDF, Density function): A function describing how probability is spread over a continuous random variable. The probability of landing in an interval is the area under the curve over that interval, and the total area is 1. The height itself is not a probability.
Probability density function: an example
For a standard bell curve, the area under the density between -1 and 1 is about 0.68, so about 68% of values fall there.
