What is sample space?
Sample space: The set of all possible outcomes of a random experiment, usually written as the Greek letter omega. Every event is a subset of it, and the probabilities of all its outcomes add up to 1. Defining it carefully is the first step in solving a probability problem.
Sample space: an example
For one die roll the sample space is {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}. For two coin tosses it is {HH, HT, TH, TT}.
