What is event?
Event: A collection of outcomes of a random experiment that we care about, treated as a subset of the sample space. We say the event happens if the actual outcome belongs to that collection. Probability is assigned to events rather than to single outcomes.
Event: an example
When rolling a die, the event 'even number' is {2, 4, 6} and has probability 3/6 = 0.5.
