What is complement rule?
Complement rule (also called Complement of an event): The probability that an event does not happen equals 1 minus the probability that it does. It is often the easiest route when counting the opposite case is simpler, for example 'at least one' problems.
Complement rule: an example
If a server is up 99.5% of the time, P(down) = 1 - 0.995 = 0.005.
