What is standard input?
Standard input (also called stdin): The default channel from which a program reads incoming data, normally the keyboard but replaceable by a file or the output of another command. Programs that read from it can be chained in pipelines without any file handling.
Standard input: an example
In cat log.txt | grep ERROR, grep gets the text of log.txt on its standard input.
