What is tar?
tar (also called Tarball): A command that bundles many files and folders into one archive file, optionally compressed with gzip. Datasets and source code are commonly distributed as .tar.gz files, and the same tool unpacks them.
tar: an example
tar -czf project.tar.gz project/ creates a compressed archive; tar -xzf project.tar.gz extracts it.
