What is VCS (version control)?
Version control (also called VCS, Source control): A system that records every change to a set of files over time so you can see who changed what and why, compare versions and restore an earlier one. It allows many people to work on the same project without overwriting one another.
Version control: an example
A team fixes a bug in a preprocessing script, and can later see the exact edit and roll it back if it caused problems.
