What is commit?
Commit: A saved snapshot of the tracked files at one moment, with a message, author, timestamp and a pointer to its parent commit. Commits form the history chain. Small commits with clear messages make changes easy to review and undo.
Commit: an example
git commit -m 'Add train/test split' records the staged changes as a new snapshot.
