What is squash?
Squash: Combining several commits into one, either during interactive rebase or when merging a pull request. It produces a shorter, cleaner history by hiding messy intermediate commits like fixes and typos.
Squash: an example
Five work-in-progress commits on a branch are squashed into one titled Add data validation.
