What is COMMIT (COMMIT and ROLLBACK)?
COMMIT and ROLLBACK (also called COMMIT, ROLLBACK): COMMIT permanently saves all changes made in the current transaction and makes them visible to others; ROLLBACK discards them and restores the earlier state. Together they end a transaction. They are the endpoints of every transaction.
COMMIT and ROLLBACK: an example
BEGIN; UPDATE ...; ROLLBACK; leaves the data exactly as it was before BEGIN.
