What is connection pool?
Connection pool (also called Connection pooling): A cache of open database connections that applications reuse instead of opening a new one per request. Opening connections is slow and each uses server memory, so pools raise throughput and protect the database.
Connection pool: an example
A web service keeps 20 open connections and lends one to each request, returning it afterwards.
