What is composite index?
Composite index (also called Multicolumn index): An index over several columns, sorted by the first column, then the second within it, and so on. It helps queries that filter on a leftmost prefix of its columns, so column order matters.
Composite index: an example
An index on (city, signup_date) serves WHERE city = 'Pune' AND signup_date > ..., but not WHERE signup_date > ... alone.
