What is triangular matrix?
Triangular matrix (also called Upper triangular matrix, Lower triangular matrix): A square matrix with all entries below the diagonal zero (upper triangular) or all entries above it zero (lower triangular). Systems with this shape are solved quickly by back or forward substitution, which is why decompositions aim to produce them.
Triangular matrix: an example
[[2,3],[0,5]] is upper triangular; solving it for a given right side needs only two steps.
