What is standard basis?
Standard basis: The default basis made of unit vectors that have a single 1 and zeros elsewhere, each pointing along one coordinate axis. The numbers in an ordinary vector are its multipliers on these axis vectors, and one-hot encodings are standard basis vectors.
Standard basis: an example
In 3-D the standard basis is [1,0,0], [0,1,0], [0,0,1]; a one-hot label for class 2 of 3 is [0,1,0].
