What is tensor contraction?
Tensor contraction: Summing the products of entries of tensors over a shared axis, which reduces the total number of axes. Matrix multiplication, dot products and traces are all special cases.
Tensor contraction: an example
Contracting a (2, 3) tensor with a (3, 4) tensor over the shared axis of size 3 yields a (2, 4) tensor.
