What is STFT (Short-time Fourier transform)?
Short-time Fourier transform (also called STFT): A method that cuts audio into short overlapping windows and applies a Fourier transform to each, giving the frequency content over time. It is the step that produces spectrograms from raw waveforms.
Short-time Fourier transform: an example
With a 25 ms window and 10 ms hop, one second of audio yields about 100 frames of frequency values.
