What is column vector?
Column vector: A vector written as a single column, so an n x 1 matrix. Textbooks treat this as the default orientation, so a matrix acting on a vector is written A x with the vector on the right.
Column vector: an example
With a 2 x 3 matrix A and column vector x of 3 numbers, A x is a column vector of 2 numbers.
