AI engineering glossary · Generative media multimodal
What is deepfake?
Deepfake: Synthetic media, usually video or audio, made with generative models to convincingly show a real person doing or saying something they never did. It enables fraud and misinformation, so detection and provenance tools have become important.
Deepfake: an example
A fake video call using a cloned face and voice of a company executive is used to trick an employee into a payment.
