AI engineering glossary · Generative media multimodal
What is C2PA (content provenance)?
Content provenance (also called C2PA): Metadata or cryptographic records that show where a piece of media came from and how it was edited. Standards such as C2PA content credentials attach signed history to files so viewers can check whether an image was camera-captured or AI-generated.
Content provenance: an example
A news photo carries a signed manifest listing the camera capture and each edit made afterwards.
