What is late-arriving data?
Late-arriving data: Records that reach a pipeline after the time period they belong to has already been processed, often because of network delay or offline devices. Systems handle it with allowed lateness, reprocessing or corrections.
Late-arriving data: an example
A phone offline in a tunnel uploads a 9:02 event at 9:20, after the 9:00 window closed.
