What is data governance?
Data governance: The policies, roles and processes that control how an organisation's data is defined, accessed, protected and kept accurate. It sets who may see what, who is accountable for each dataset and how rules such as retention are enforced.
Data governance: an example
A company defines that only the HR team may view salary columns, assigns a named owner to the employee table and logs every access.
