What is data catalog?
Data catalog: An organised inventory of an organisation's datasets holding descriptions, owners, schemas, tags and usage information, with search. It helps people find data, judge whether to trust it and understand where it comes from.
Data catalog: an example
An analyst searches the catalog for 'customer churn', finds a certified table, sees its owner and column descriptions, and avoids building a duplicate.
