What is FCN (fully convolutional network)?
Fully convolutional network (also called FCN): A network with no fully connected layers, made only of convolutions, so it accepts any image size and outputs a spatial map. It made dense per-pixel prediction practical. It typically ends with upsampling so the output matches the input size.
Fully convolutional network: an example
Feeding a 512 x 512 image gives a 512 x 512 class map; feeding a 256 x 256 one gives a 256 x 256 map.
