What is CNN (convolutional neural network)?
Convolutional neural network (also called CNN, ConvNet): A neural network built mainly from convolution layers, pooling and a final classifier, designed for grid-like data such as images. Layers learn a hierarchy from edges to textures to object parts, and weight sharing keeps parameter counts manageable.
Convolutional neural network: an example
A CNN that reads handwritten digits might use two convolution-and-pool stages followed by a small layer that outputs ten class scores.
