What is gitignore?
Gitignore (also called .gitignore): A text file named .gitignore listing file patterns that Git should not track, such as build outputs, virtual environments, large data and secrets. It keeps repositories small and prevents accidental leaks.
Gitignore: an example
A .gitignore with .venv/, __pycache__/, .env and *.pt keeps environments, caches, secrets and model weights out of commits.
