What is dark patterns?
Dark patterns (also called deceptive design): User-interface designs that trick or pressure people into choices they would not otherwise make, such as hiding a decline button or pre-ticking consent boxes. Regulators treat them as undermining valid consent, and they are a red flag in AI product reviews.
Dark patterns: an example
A consent banner shows a large green 'Accept all' button but buries the reject option under three menus.
