What is ACID?
ACID: The four guarantees of a reliable transaction: Atomicity (all or nothing), Consistency (rules stay satisfied), Isolation (concurrent transactions do not interfere) and Durability (committed changes survive crashes). Relational databases are known for them.
ACID: an example
After a bank transfer commits and the server loses power, the new balances are still there when it restarts.
