What is version pinning?
Version pinning: Specifying exact package versions, such as pandas==2.1.4, so installs behave identically over time. It prevents surprise breakages from new releases but needs occasional deliberate upgrades. Teams pin versions so results, such as model behaviour, stay reproducible.
Version pinning: an example
Pinning scikit-learn==1.4.2 ensures a trained model file loads the same way in production as in development.
