What is wheel?
Wheel (also called whl): A built, ready-to-install package format for Python, stored as a .whl file. Installing one is faster than building from source and needs no compiler, which matters for packages with compiled code.
Wheel: an example
pip install numpy usually downloads a wheel matching your platform and Python version.
