What is permutation?
Permutation: An arrangement of items in a specific order. The number of ways to arrange k items chosen from n is n! / (n - k)!, and all n items can be ordered in n! ways. Order matters, unlike in combinations.
Permutation: an example
Assigning gold, silver and bronze to 3 of 8 runners can be done in 8 x 7 x 6 = 336 ways.
