What is cross-lingual transfer?
Cross-lingual transfer: Training a model on labelled data in one language, often English, and applying it to other languages with little or no labelled data there. It works when a multilingual model shares representations across languages.
Cross-lingual transfer: an example
A sentiment classifier fine-tuned on English reviews is applied directly to Marathi reviews.
