What is case folding?
Case folding (also called Lowercasing): Converting all letters to a single case, usually lower case, so that "Apple", "APPLE" and "apple" count as the same word. It shrinks the vocabulary but can erase useful signals, such as distinguishing a company name from a fruit.
Case folding: an example
Folding "Delhi" and "delhi" gives one entry, but "US" and "us" also collapse into one.
