What is constituency parsing?
Constituency parsing (also called Phrase-structure parsing): Analysing a sentence as nested phrases, such as noun phrases inside verb phrases, forming a tree whose leaves are the words. It describes grammatical structure by grouping, as opposed to linking words directly.
Constituency parsing: an example
"The cat sat on the mat" splits into a noun phrase "The cat" and a verb phrase "sat on the mat".
