What is openTelemetry?
OpenTelemetry (also called OTel): An open, vendor-neutral standard and set of tools for generating and exporting telemetry: traces, metrics and logs. Instrumenting code once lets a team send data to many backends, and it now includes conventions for generative AI calls.
OpenTelemetry: an example
An app instrumented with OpenTelemetry sends traces to Jaeger in testing and to a paid observability service in production.
