What is docker image?
Docker image: A read-only, layered snapshot containing an application's code, runtime, libraries and file-system contents. It is the template from which running containers are started. Because images are built in layers, unchanged layers are reused, which makes builds and downloads faster.
Docker image: an example
A 900 MB Python image for a fraud-scoring API is built once, tagged v1.4, and then started as ten identical running containers.
