What is rolling statistics?
Rolling statistics: Summary values such as mean, median or standard deviation computed over a sliding window of consecutive observations. They smooth noise, describe local trend and volatility, and are common time-series features.
Rolling statistics: an example
A 7-day rolling mean of daily orders smooths weekday spikes and reveals the underlying trend.
