What is residual plot?
Residual plot: A scatter plot of a regression model's residuals (actual minus predicted) against the predicted values or a feature. A healthy plot is a shapeless cloud around zero. Curves, funnels or clusters signal missing non-linearity, changing error size or other problems the summary metrics hide.
Residual plot: an example
A funnel-shaped residual plot for house-price predictions shows errors growing with price, suggesting a log transform of the target.
