What is chrF?
chrF (also called character n-gram F-score, chrF++): A metric for generated text that computes an F-score over overlapping character n-grams instead of words. Character matching handles rich word endings and spelling variation, so it suits morphologically rich languages such as Hindi, Tamil or Finnish. The variant chrF++ also adds word n-grams.
chrF: an example
A Tamil output with a slightly different word ending still gets partial credit under chrF because most character sequences match.
