What is data tiering?
Data tiering (also called Hot and cold storage): Placing data on different storage classes according to how often it is used, with frequently read data on fast, costly storage and rarely used data on cheaper, slower storage. Rules can move data between tiers automatically.
Data tiering: an example
Last month's logs stay in standard storage, and anything older than a year moves to an archive tier at lower cost.
