What is data validation?
Data validation: Automatically checking that incoming or transformed data meets stated rules, such as required fields, allowed ranges, correct types and matching references, and reacting when it does not. It stops bad records from spreading downstream.
Data validation: an example
A check rejects any order row where quantity is negative or the pincode is not six digits and routes it to a quarantine table.
