What is panoptic segmentation?
Panoptic segmentation: A task that unifies semantic and instance segmentation: every pixel gets a class, and pixels of countable things such as people get an instance identity, while stuff such as sky and road gets only a class.
Panoptic segmentation: an example
A driving scene is labelled with separate IDs for each car and pedestrian, plus single regions for road and sky.
