What is image segmentation?
Image segmentation: Dividing an image into regions by labelling pixels, so the outline of each object or area is known rather than just a box. It is used in medical imaging, autonomous driving and satellite analysis.
Image segmentation: an example
A model colours every pixel of a road scene as road, car, pedestrian or sky.
