What is image embedding?
Image embedding: A fixed-length vector representing an image such that visually or semantically similar images have nearby vectors. It powers image search, duplicate detection and recommendation. It is usually taken from a late layer of a neural network and compared by cosine similarity or distance.
Image embedding: an example
An e-commerce app embeds every product photo and, for a query photo of a kurta, returns the products with the closest vectors by cosine similarity.
