What is feature descriptor?
Feature descriptor: A numeric vector that summarises the appearance around a keypoint so it can be compared with keypoints in other images. Good descriptors stay similar despite changes in scale, rotation or lighting.
Feature descriptor: an example
SIFT describes each keypoint with a 128-number vector built from local gradient directions.
