What is feature detection?
Feature detection: Finding distinctive points in an image, such as corners and blobs, that can be located again reliably in other images. These keypoints support matching, tracking, mapping and stitching. Reliable keypoints are the starting point for matching and geometry.
Feature detection: an example
A Harris corner detector picks out the corners of window frames in a building photo as keypoints.
