What is AIA (algorithmic impact assessment)?
Algorithmic impact assessment (also called AIA): A documented evaluation, done before deployment, of how an automated system may affect people and communities, covering fairness, privacy, safety and rights, along with proposed safeguards. Public bodies and regulators increasingly ask for one for consequential systems.
Algorithmic impact assessment: an example
A city planning to use an algorithm for allocating welfare inspections first publishes an assessment of who may be affected and how errors will be corrected.
