What is migration?
Migration (also called Schema migration): A versioned, repeatable script that moves a database schema from one state to another, kept in source control and applied in order across environments. Tools such as Alembic and Flyway automate applying and tracking them.
Migration: an example
A migration adds a phone column in version 12, so every developer and the production database reach the same schema.
