What is MVCC?
MVCC (also called Multi-version concurrency control): Multi-version concurrency control: the database keeps several versions of a row so readers see a consistent snapshot while writers create new versions, meaning readers do not block writers. PostgreSQL and MySQL InnoDB use it.
MVCC: an example
While a long report reads yesterday's snapshot, new orders keep being inserted without waiting.
