What is augmented assignment?
Augmented assignment: A shorthand operator that combines an arithmetic or bitwise operation with assignment, such as +=, -=, *=, /=, //= and %=. The statement x += 1 updates x using its old value. It is common for counters and running totals.
Augmented assignment: an example
total = 0; total += 250 makes total 250; a second total += 100 makes it 350.
